Today my sister is going to Madrid to see the musical of Michael Jackson with her boyfriend. She loves the musicals so she has seen a lot of them. This time my father wanted to go with her because he really likes Michael Jackson and when we were little he put us the clips of him in the tv and told us that he learned to dance with him. For his birthday, which was last March, we gave him the last Cd he recorded.
The musical, called "Forever King of Pop", in the preview was full of technical mistakes. Some microphones were off when the artists had to sing and on in very bad moments and a lot of shots very bad reflected in the screen at the stage. Despite these technical mistakes the show was saved by the dancers and singers that made an excellent work. The musical reviews the musical career of Michael Jackson with songs like "Bad", "Billie Jean" and "Black and White".
Michael Jackson, whose real name was Michael Joseph Jackson, was borned in Indiana in 1958. But despite the success of Michael Jackson, The Jackson Five's sales fall. They wanted to write their songs but Gordy did not let them do that so they left Motown Records. In 1975 The Jackson Five signed a contract with Epic Records and changed their name for The Jacksons. Among 1976 and 1984 they launched six Cd and Michael Jackson wrote some of their songs.
In 1978 he play the rol of The Scarecrow in the film "El mago, remake" from the musical "El mago de Oz". There he met the producer Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson worked with him the next years. In 1979 he had to do a rhynoplasty because he had problems to breath and he hurted his nose dancing. He published the album "Off the Wall" this year with some songs written by Rod Temperton, Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney. In 1980 he won a Grammy and three prizes AMA, one of them for the song "Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough".
In 1982 he launched his second album with Epic, "Thriller", which became the best seller in the world. It remained 80 weeks in the list of Billboard 2oo. The success of this Cd was also for the clip of "Thriller" which last 13 minutes and was directed by John Landis. In 1983 he acted in the special tv program "Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever" where he played "Billie Jean" and made his famous moonwalk leaving people amazed.
In 1984 Michael Jackson shoot a commercial for Pepsi but at the shooting he suffered burns because of an accident with the fireworks to simulate a concert. Pepsi gave him 1.500.000 dolars that he donated to the Brotman Medical Center of Culver, California, where he was assisted. This year, Michael Jackson was invited to the White House by the president Ronald Reagan to give him a special prize for his humanitary work. Also in this year he won eight Grammys and although he did not do a tour with this album, he did it with The Jackson, with which he earned five milions of dolars. He gave them to a different acts of charity.In 1985 he published an album with other famous artists like Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen among other singers, called "USA for Africa" with the song "We are the world" and won milions of dolars to help Africa.
In 1986 he was diagnosed an illness so his skin lose pigmentation and he had to avoid the light of the sun. He began to go on a vegetarian diet and suffered anorexia. Rumors went around him about everything. He stared in the film 3D Captain EO, directed by Francis Ford Coppola. After this, in 1987, he launched the album "Bad" but although it was a successful album, it did not reach the success of "Thriller". He started the tour called "Bad World Tour" and appeared in the Record Guinness when he fill up the Wembley Stadium. Part of the money he earned with this tour was for hospitals and orphanages.
In 1988 he published his first autobiography called "Moonlight", which was one of the best sellers of this year according to The New York Times. Also this year he published the film with the same title "Moonlight". Jackson bought a building in California where he put a theme park, a zoo and a cinema. His nickname was "The king of pop" because of his popularity, and George H.W. Bush appointed him artist of the decade. In the birthday of the comedian and singer Sammy Davis, Jr he sang "You were there" and was nominated to an Emmy.
